Richard M. Dolan holds an MA in History from the University of Rochester and a BA from Alfred University. He earned a Certificate in Political Theory from Oxford University and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. In 2000, he published a 500-page study, UFOs and the National Security State. This is the first of a two-part historical narrative of the national security dimensions of the UFO phenomenon from 1941 to the present. Included are records of more than 50 military bases relating to innumerable violations of airspace by unknown objects, illustrating that the US takes the topic of UFOs seriously.

Dolan has published numerous articles on anomalous phenomena, science, and the intelligence community. In 2003, he helped to found Phenomena, a magazine dedicated to leading edge issues pertaining to science & society.

Dolan argues that our global civilization is perched at the brink of collapse. In doing so, he points out several unsetting truths. First, our political system has been entirely subverted. We do not live in the kind of society we grew up believing in. More ominously, our insatiable thirst for finite natural resources threatens to undermine the foundations of our civilization. But the greatest threat to the global human infrastructure is from a severe reduction in the supply of petroleum, something he feels can happen within 10 years. What does the presence of aliens have to do with any of this? Several things. First, we may assume they have some clue as to what is about to happen to us. What might they think about our impending global flameout? Might our situation provide any insight into their actions here? Perhaps most important of all, however, is the virtual certainty that extremely advanced technology - derived from UFOs - is being developed in secret military and scientific installations. Understanding what is going on in such places may be the most important direction UFO research can take in the coming years. Obtaining these secret technologies may be our only hope for survival.
