Colin Andrews is a well-known researcher, author and expert on the Crop Circle phenomenon. He is the founder of Circles Phenomenon Research International, the first organization established to investigate the crop circle phenomenon. His scientific investigations are responsible for much of the information available on the subject. He is an electrical engineer by profession and a former senior officer in British Government. For three years he advised the British Government on the phenomenon, supplying technical and scientific reports to the Under-Secretary of State for the environment in the Margaret Thatcher cabinet.

Colin Andrews became involved in the circle mystery during 1983 when he saw an arrangement of five circles in a wheat field near Winchester, England. Intrigued by the engineering aspects of creating the circles he began investigations with Pat Delgado, a retired NASA engineer and Busty Taylor a light aircraft pilot. In 1989, Pat and Colin co-authored 'Circular Evidence', the first book written on the subject, which became an international best seller and was chosen by Queen Elizabeth for her prestigious 'Summer Reading List’. This was followed by ‘Crop Circles: The Latest Evidence’, in 1990m and ‘Crop Circles – Signs of Contact’ , co-authored by Steve Spignesi and published in March 2003 by New Page Books.

For more than a decade, the research community, public and media alike have been troubled by the secrecy surrounding the huge surveillance operation, “Operation Blackbird,” which involved the British Army in July 1990, and was planned and coordinated by Andrews. “Blackbird" was established to film a crop circle forming in fields where an eye witness had already seen one form. Many strange events took place during the ten days of the operation, but the only one to which the world’s media was given full access was a hoax, set up specifically for them. Other events also took place that have never been revealed, one of which Andrews himself was sworn to secrecy. Television and radio transmissions from the site were closed down during "Blackbird,” and the events that took place have been shrouded in secrecy. Andrews is now willing to reveal the details about what took place during “Operation Blackbird.”
