Michael A. Cremo is a researcher in history of science for the Bhaktivedanta Institute. He is a member of the World Archeological Congress, the European Association of Archeologists, the History of Science Society, and the Philosophy of Science Association. He has spoken at the Royal Institution in London, the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, and at other scientific institutions, conferences, and universities around the world. He is coauthor with Richard Thompson of Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race. His latest book is Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin’s Theory. Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin's Theory Archeologists have found human skeletons, footprints, and artifacts hundreds of millions of years old. This archeological evidence for extreme human antiquity and genetic evidence showing the irreducible complexity of biological form demonstrate the real need for an alternative explanation of human origins. But before asking the question "where did human beings come from?", we should first ask the question "what is a human being?" Today most scientists believe a human being is a combination of ordinary matter. But if we consider all the evidence for various fields of normal and paranormal science, it is more reasonable to say that a human being is a combination of matter, mind, and spirit. This leads to the assumption that the cosmos itself is divided into regions of matter, mind, and spirit, each inhabited by beings adapted to the conditions there.. Drawing on Vedic sources of wisdom from ancient India, Michael Cremo proposes that we did not evolve up from matter; rather, we have devolved from the level of pure consciousness. During this process of devolution the original conscious self becomes covered by the lower energies of mind and matter. But the process can be reversed. |
